Tools & Materials

Materials, Tools, Contents & Teaching Methods

We provide our students with the required material for each course. We prepare the contents specifically to each particular student and /or groups. Our teachers guided by the Director put together material from different resources in order to get the best tools in each area of study.

We rely on real life situations and elements like newspapers, magazines, TV and radio broadcasts, movies and several media helpful to make courses dynamic and enjoyable. Our students are in constant suggestion about how to improve the learning experience. The teaching crew has previous experience in studying second languages abroad. They speak at least one of the following languages: English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. Since they have been on the student´s side at least once in their lives, they are in great conditions to understand the learning dynamics from all its aspects. And the most important beyond their qualified performance is that they feel passion for what they do.

Accommodation

It is difficult to find a good housing, even with a family or your own apartment, in a foreign country, especially if you don’t know the native language. That’s why at our School we are pleased to help our students to find the most suitable accommodation for them. All the places for accommodation are located in the best areas of Buenos Aires. For us is very important you feel comfortable in the city, and you will see it is essential to be able to walk late at night around your home.

Family Stay

The family housing gives you the chance to get the maximum out of your immersion program. You can feel the real Argentinean life style, and you can practise your Spanish 24 hours per day. It is important to re-mark that most of the host families have been working with us from the beginning of the School. They perfectly know what the role of a host is. You will feel with your family that you are “at home”. You won’t be the first to keep in contact with the family once you go back home. Families belong to Argentina’s upper middle class. Their homes are located in beautiful and safe neighbourhoods like Palermo, Barrio Norte and Recoleta. Public transport is good, easily accessible and buses run frequently. The family houses we offer include a private bedroom, change of towels and bedclothes, the use of a bathroom (in some cases they have a private one), the use of the kitchen, living room, patio or balcony. You can receive phone calls, but you can’t make them (there are lots of public places to make phone calls). Of course you will have to follow the few rules of the family, however you will have considerable freedom. You will have your own keys, so you can come and go as you please. Payments are to be made in advance (i.e. at the beginning of the week or month) in cash and the shortest period of time for which a room can be rented is one week.

Rent a flat

If you prefer to have your own place and intimacy, the best option for you is to rent a flat. These flats, as the families, are always located in good neighbourhoods. There are one room apartments, which have the essential things to live: a bed, a table with two chairs, and armchair, TV with cable, air-conditioner, a kitchen with a refrigerator and a stove (and of course all the necessary for cooking), a bathroom, towels and bedclothes. The price of this kind of apartment is approximately U$S 300. There are two room apartments, which have the living room and the bedroom separate. The services are the same of the one room apartment and their cost are approximately U$S 400. The prices include everything except the phone of course. To rent an apartment you have to pay the month in advance and one month as a deposit that will be given back to you once you leave the apartment. As we work with a company in charge of finding goods apartments, their fee is a 10% of the rent, for only one time. The shortest period of time for which an apartment can be rented is one month.

Hostel

Another accommodation option is hostels for young people located in the neighbourhoods near the school. They are probably not as comfortable as the previous two options, but you may find them more flexibles and you will have the chance to be in constant contact with other tourists.

Hotel

If you desire privacy and you are going to stay in Buenos Aires for less than a month, we recommend you to stay in a hotel. A good option will be a three stars hotel or an apart- hotel. Most of the hotel and apart-hotel are located near downtown. We can make the arrangements for you. Remember that most of them require a credit card to hold a reservation.

Testimonies

Bob Hannan :: San Francisco, U.S.

I have studied Spanish in schools in both the United States and Latin America, and this School is by far the best experience I have ever had. The staff is friendly and dedicated and does a great job of focusing on each student’s specific needs. The school has a relaxed, family atmosphere and it is amazing how quickly your Spanish improves.

On top of that you can’t help but be seduced by the Portenio charm and the beauty of Buenos Aires.

Ryan Schwartz :: Gladstone,Canada

My time at this school has definitely been time well spent. I arrived with a very basic Spanish vocabulary and in three weeks time was able to have conversations with the people of this beautiful city. The entire staff was extremely helpful with any problems or questions I had. Any doubts I was having about my trip were quickly taken care of by their genuine and friendly service. After my experience here I can feel confident amongst a Spanish speaking society and will be saying good bye to excellent teachers that have become my good friends.

Helena Nilsson Tapper :: Sweden

Before I came to Buenos Aires, I wasn’t speaking any Spanish at all. But thanks to Pamela and her school I got the opportunity to learn a new language and improve it in a professional environment.

Well educated teachers, good structure of the textbook, which also contained grammar and exercises, and you get lots of time to spend with your own private teacher.

You choose how many hours and for how long time you would like to study yourself, which will give you plenty of spare time to explore Buenos Aires, and everything the city has to offer; like theatres, restaurants, nightclubs, museums, monuments, different activities, the parks, sports events, why not go to a famous and worldclass football game? Here is something for everyone.

However, I did four weeks, in total 60 hours, and that has been giving me surprisingly much more knowledge than I thought. I was also able to communicate with the Argentineans during my one-month trip travelling around the country, which of course makes your trip more fun and interesting.

I am well pleased, and would like to continue learning the third most spoken language in the world, as I start University in London this coming autumn. I am very grateful to Pamela for picking me up at the airport, helping me with accommodation, taking me out to “typical” Argentinean places, and for being a good friend!

Finally, I must say that I highly recommend taking Spanish classes and to choose this regarded school. I have been very satisfied and know that more students have been so too.

Good Luck!

Michaela Nilsson :: Sweden

I got introduced to Pamela by a friend of mine, Helena, who told me about the advantages of studying Spanish here in Buenos Aires.

Since I had two weeks in the city, before I was going to travel around South America, I found it very useful to take some Spanish classes. Although I only took some days of classes, I must say that I am very surprised of how much you actually learn by being in the country, where the language you study is spoken.

I am satisfied with my teacher, the school itself where you can meet other students and the costs are very reasonable too.

Good and convenient with the possibility to choose how many days and hours you would like to do yourself, homework, and the level that you would like to achieve.

Pamela also helped me to get in contact with fantastic tango teacher, and soon thereafter I started taking some tango lessons. Very interesting dance I do recommend you to try, since you are here anyway.

Buenos Aires is a nice, lovely, sophisticated and interesting city, well worth visiting; I will always remember this valuable time with a great smile.

Thank you Pamela for this time!

Rahul Gohil :: India

The Spanish Immersion course in Buenos Aires exceeded all my expectations. I remember how little I understood and thought that it would be impossible for me to learn a new language at the age of 26. The first week was tough, but by the end of the program even I was surprised at how much I understood.

I think that there were many strengths to this program. First of all, the student faculty ratio was very important. Having only one other student was great because we each got the appropriate attention and nobody ever felt lost or left behind. Secondly, program director was extremely responsible and attentive to the students needs...especially in regards to finding housing and transportation. Thirdly, the setting was spectacular and affordable.

I only wish that I had more time because the longer I stayed the more interested I became in seeing some things outside of the city... For those of you planning to come to Argentina, try to set aside at least 3 months so you can not only pace yourself in class, but you can take some weeks off to travel around the country. I definately plan on returning the next chance I get.

Susan Van Rijn :: Amsterdam

The Spanish Way is a small language School, which means a personal way of contact. Things are taken care of, from accommodation to start off and reach a desired level of Spanish and- if you want – entertainment. Even unlogical wishes are being helped with, like finding tickets for the Tiesto Concert.

We had a good teacher, in Spanish and in going out – thanks Luciana-; good educations – thanks Pamela-; good excursions –thanks Romina-; and good laughs- Thanks you all. I really enjoyed Buenos Aires.

Gerrit Stolze :: Holland

Normally, I hate to learn languages, because I´m really bad at it. In High School they were my worst nightmares, I failed many tests.

But now I found that learning a language, Spanish to be exact, can be done and can be fun, and even both at the same time!

We had a very good time meanwhile learning a lot from “la profesora” (the teacher) at The Spanish Way.

The teachers are professional and friendly, and even take you to nice places in Buenos Aires (like historical places and trendy clubs) to improve while speaking with locals!

So, we from Holland like to recommend: Go to The Spanish Way!...Best Regards!

Kevin Schloemer :: Holland

I did a two week course on The Spanish Way School in Buenos Aires. In these two weeks I not only picked up enough Spanish to be able to travel around South America comfortably, I also had a lot of fun. Our teachers took us on various excursions onto the city, during the day, but also during some evenings.

For me the best thing about “The Spanish Way” Language School is its flexibility on arranging the classes and the speed of the lessons. The possibility to shift the accent on the course to what is most important for me, was very appealing.

I would certainly recommend doing a Spanish Language course at The Spanish Way Language School.
